In 1936, Permochart Corporation was founded and began manufacturing precision eye charts and navigational plotters. James M. Yost purchased Permochart Corp. in 1939.
In 1946, name changed to Allegheny Plastics, Inc. to reflect expansion of product offerings in the plastics industry.
1950s through the 1970s
Offered services including offset lithograph printing on plastic, screen printing, hot foil stamping, hydraulic lamination, forming along with die-cutting, punching, shearing, profiling, drilling and assembly
Expanded printed plastics product offering to include charts, diagrams, dials, identification tags, instruction cards, signs, and slide rules
1980s through the 1990s
In 1982, the business was divided into three distinct operating subsidiaries: Allegheny Printed Plastics, Allegheny Performance Plastics and Allegheny Process Equipment
Allegheny Printed Plastics moved into the Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania facility and expanded into the markets of prepaid telephone cards, insurance membership cards and private label credit cards
2000s
Significant investments in technology, equipment and Lean manufacturing processes: Added 4-Color Manroland printing press, 8 color Manroland press, Agfa Apogee CTP, ink key pre-set software, new automated ink mixing equipment, Sakurai Screen Press, Bürkle Laminator, several custom Mühlbauer Automated Die Cut and Inspection machines and personalization capabilities with Atlantic Zeiser, DataCard, Kirk Rudy and Kurz equipment
Printing Industries of America (PIA) certified color management processes conform to ISO 12647-2
Added new channel accounts to diversify into new markets, including hospitality, pharmaceutical and promotional card products
Strong alliances with industry gift card channel partners
The launch of multiple high-quality cards with detachable tags resulted in new, diversified revenues
15,000-sq.-ft. plant expansion completed
